Alona, Bohol’s Little Boracay
Last week, my family and I, along with some of my blogger friends went to the beautiful island of Panglao here in Bohol. We went to bring Gagay and Genevive to Alona in Panglao since Gagay has not been to the island and have thought wrongly of the island. Anyway, we were just there to see the small strip of white sand beach dotted with resorts and restaurants. Alona is like Bohol’s version of Boracay, only Alona is a shorter one.

Medium-sized motorized bancas line up at the sea waiting for interested tourists and take them around the surrounding islands or to experience some breathtaking dolphin watching or fish feeding. Some of the resorts offer diving sessions where sea lovers and enthusiasts are taken into the depths of the Panglao sea and let them behold the beauty of the coral reefs and other diving spots nearby. At night, Alona is teeming with life as bars and restaurants organize gimmicks, shows and other activities for the visitors, tourists and locals alike. Tables are filled up and beer and other beverages overflow as parties left and right entice resort guests and customers.

Alona is totally a different world, it’s a community that thrives on the tourist influx and it is a fast-growing community, complete with facilities to cater to the local needs like banks, a small medical center, a gasoline station, a small church and other relevant community places.
When we were there, it was one hot sunny day and we did not enjoy so much the little time we spent there because the sun gave out a scorching heat. So after combing the beach, we headed back to the city to have lunch.
