At the Castle Peak Hotel, Cebu

I was able to purchase a deal from one of the group buying sites that I am currently subscribed. The deal was an overnight stay at a deluxe room at the Castle Peak Hotel in Cebu. I was very happy to get 50% off of their published rate, the room was pegged at P1,688 (single or double occupancy), so I just it for P844.00! Hubby approved my buying the deal and last October 21-22, we finally got the chance to use it.

Castle Peak Hotel is located in Mabolo, Cebu City, just a few minutes away from the bustling Ayala Center Cebu, SM City Cebu, Waterfront Hotel, the Asiatown IT Park and other prominent destinations. At the hotel’s reception, the front desk staff were very courteous and accommodating. As expected, we were billeted in a deluxe room on the 7th floor. This is how our room looks like:

It was a nice room, except that we had a little (just a little) difficulty in adjusting the air conditioning system. But we figured it out anyhow. The bathroom was complete with clean towels and toiletries and it had a bathtub. My 4-year old boy enjoyed the tub and had a fun time swimming.

Castle Peak’s deluxe room has a mini bar, some snacks and cable TV. One of the amenities was free WiFi, I wanted to access the Internet even for just a few minutes but unfortunately, I was not able to connect. But it was actually fine with me, as I wanted to spend the few hours to relax in the cool room. We also ordered dinner at the hotel’s bar and restaurant, and mind you, the food was really good. Both my hubby and I enjoyed the big servings of pork barbecue with banana split for our dessert. For our breakfast, we paid P199.00 for each of us, hubby and I, our little boy got to eat for free! It was a buffet of delicious fried rice, fried danggit, pork humba, eggs, Chinese hotdogs, breads, pancakes, coffee, hot chocolate and juices. It was really sumptuous and I was also able to eat well since the restaurant manager “borrowed” our little baby.

Checking out was also without hassle. It was fast and easy and we were able to catch our float back to Bohol just in time.

Bluewater Panglao Trick or Treat

The Bluewater Panglao Beach Resort is set to have a fun-filled day of Halloween on October 30, 2011. I am very privileged to have been invited to take part in the Bluewater Trick or Treat. Since trick or treat favors the kids and children, I will be tagging along with me my two little boys to participate in the activities.

The Halloween Day Tour Package on October 30 costs only P1500 net per person (about $36) which includes the entrance fee, P700 ($17) Aplaya Restaurant consumable credit, use of the Aplaya swimming pool and beach, and use of beach mat and towel. Kids will be given a kiddie lunch meal and loot bags. They also participate in the Halloween games and activities, take wacky photos at the Halloween Photo Booth and can even go trick or treating around the resort.

All these in just a day! That would surely be exciting and kids will have a good time. While the children are having the time of their lives, my hubby and I can enjoy Bluewater Panglao’s watersports and other recreational activities. While there, I will also (for sure) indulge in Amuma’s relaxing signature therapies.

I am already giddy with excitement since it’s also my first time to be in Bluewater Panglao Beach Resort. I’ve been to a few beach resorts in Panglao and it’s going to a family first.

*Bluewater Panglao Beach Resort is conveniently located at Brgy. Danao, Panglao Island, Bohol, Philippines. For inquiries, you may visit their Facebook page.

Taking Along Luxuries on your Travels

Packing light on your travels is often a great way to save yourself the trouble of dealing with overweight luggage charges at airports, back problems from lugging your suitcases around hotel lobbies and up staircases, and certainly from having to scrounge through your bag just to find the bathing suit you buried at the bottom.  Still, there are downsides to under-packing, namely that you might leave items that you’d really enjoy having along with you.  So if you’re planning a relaxing trip soon and want to bring along some luxurious essentials from your home life, consider only bringing three large items you want to bring but normally wouldn’t.  That way, you’re still saving most of your luggage space for the essentials, but don’t have to give up things that make you feel comfortable and relaxed.  Below, we’ll provide three suggestions on what items can really make a trip even better.

Bath Robes

This day and age, you’re lucky if the place you’re staying at even puts two clean towels in your room before your stay begins, and oftentimes you have to head down to the front desk to get enough towels for your needs.  So expecting to find a bath robe in a hotel room may be setting yourself up for disappointment.  And even if the hotel does provide robes, they’re often not as nice as you’d expect.  Instead, consider bringing a luxury bath robe from home.  Softer, more elegantly designed, and frankly more personal, you’ll have something comfortable to relax in when you don’t want to get changed.  And hey, since it is your vacation, don’t you deserve a little bit of luxury?

Formalwear

Many people leave for their vacations not wanting to get dressed up, preferring instead to lounge around in sweatpants in shorts without any expectations to change.  That may be your initial thought, but oftentimes during vacation after a few days of relaxing you eventually want to get dolled up and hit the town.  It can be difficult to do that without a dress or suit, so even though you may not bring a dozen options along, one formal outfit will do just fine.  If you don’t end up using it, there’s nothing to lose, but if you find a need for it, you’ll be glad you brought it.  If you can’t fit it, put it in your suitcase anyway and take out some other essentials.  After all, it’s much cheaper to replace flip flops and board shorts once you arrive than it is to buy a brand new classy dress or suit.

Something Special

This last category isn’t anything specific, and that’s for a reason.  If there’s something in your home that really makes your day every day, why should you feel obligated to leave it behind on your vacation?  Your trip is designed to make you feel good, so if there is something that you enjoy and enjoy often, pack it and don’t worry about the details until later.

3 Reasons to Rent a Villa in Mexico

[View of Villa Golondrina, a luxury villa in Mexico]

The world is a large place, and knowing the best place where you can rent a villa to enjoy a vacation can be a major factor in making decisions. Here are three reasons to choose a villa in Mexico.

1)  Resort Privileges. Unlike many parts of the world, where villas are often standalone estates, villa rentals in Mexico are frequently part of a larger resort that offers a wide range of services and features, and even some villas not within the grounds of the resort itself have arranged for access to use its facilities. For a couple, family, or group that’s looking for a way to truly enjoy their vacation, it’s hard to beat discounts on all sorts of events, inexpensive or free rental of sporting equipment, and the use of spas, massage parlors, and fine restaurants. The features of any particular resort may vary somewhat, but when you’re getting those privileges along with your rental, you can be sure that you’re getting a lot of good things for your money.

2)  Mexico villas are often constructed in a very local style, with a heavy Spanish influence and an eye towards the climate. This provides a distinct change from many villas on the Caribbean islands and in places like Europe, and the distinctive architecture of Mexican villas provides a pleasant change from construction styles seen in other parts of the world. Thus, for someone who truly wants to feel like they’re on vacation, it helps to not feel like you didn’t truly leave.

3)  With entire resort towns, and not simply luxurious locations, Mexican villas often have an entire culture built around supporting your vacation to the fullest extent. Many parts of the towns are geared towards helping you have fun, and that, in turn, means a much wider selection of things to enjoy while you’re on your vacation. A standard villa rental will generally require you to bring some of your own things to do, but a villa located close to a resort city can offer a much greater number of entertainments and delights that help to transform your vacation into something truly extraordinary.

Tuesday Travels – OktoberFest

Perhaps one of the most famous festivals is Oktoberfest, and for this month’s Tuesday Travels, Oktoberfest is one of many festivals I want to witness or attend.

According to Wikipedia, Oktoberfest is a 16 – 18 day beer festival held every year at Munich, Bavaria, Germany. It is also the world’s largest fair with over 5 million people attending every year. The festival runs from late September to the first weekend in October. So just by thinking of all the beers in those 18 days, one would surely get drunk and intoxicated.

I don’t drink beer or any alcoholic beverages myself, but I have always been fascinated at this very unique festivity. It’s uniqueness has become so popular that almost every country celebrate their own Octoberfest. They say that the beers served during this festival is freshly brewed (if that’s how they say it) and just by looking at how big the beer mug is, surely, one would get another round.

I have a few German friends and if given the chance to travel and visit Germany, I would surely cross the world and get a taste of the beer served during Oktoberfest and see for myself why this festival is one big hit.
